Day 1 of sample Xian tour

Arrive Xi'an in the morning and get picked up from airport or train station and go to Sofitel to get settled in.

 

Terra Cotta Warriors- dubbed as the 8th wonder of the world, the most significant archeological excavations of the 20th century, and a sight not to be missed by any visitor to China

Big Wild Goose Pagoda- Originally built in 652 during the reign of Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), it functioned to collect Buddhist materials that were taken from India by the hierarch Xuanzang.

Music fountain show -Covering an area of some 110,000 square meters and with an investment cost of 500 million Yuan, this is said to be the largest music fountain square in Asia.

Tang Paradise -covers a total area of about 165 acres of which 49 acres is water. This tourist attraction lays claim to be the biggest cultural theme park in the northwest region of China and also the first royal-garden-like park to give a full display of the Tang Dynasty's (618-907) culture

Shaanxi Province History Museum - considers it an obligation to be a showcase of ancient civilizations. Since it was opened to the public in 1991, its architectural buildings, internal apparatus, and exhibits have made it famous as a first-class museum in China.

Performance of the Tang Dynasty Music and Dance and Dumpling banquet. A performance of Changan music and dance originated in China's Tang Dynasty over a thousand years ago. This wonderful combination of colourful costumes, melodious tunes and ancient history is a living, breathing work of art-an extravaganza not to be missed!

Biking/ walking on the city walls - the most complete city wall that has survived in China, as well as being one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world - a great way to get a feel for this ancient city.

Forest of Steles - With 900 years of history, this treasure house holds a large collection of the earliest stone steles of different periods, from the Han Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty. All together, there are 3,000 steles and the museum is divided into seven exhibitions halls

Shu Yuan Men (The Arts Street) - Historical relics, calligraphy, paintings, antiques, jewels, and folk art fine works

Stroll through the city centre past the Bell and Drum towers
